Sasha is a 9 month old Blue Pit. She is a princess in the house and a tomboy at heart when she's outside. She is a ball of personality who is not afraid to express her feelings. She enjoys running - everywhere. Sasha is not a picky eater and enjoys each meal as if it were her last. She absolutely loves water (not baths), with loads of ice in her bowl. There's only been one toy she hasn't been able to destroy, and she's working feverishly at changing that. So... there are no cute squeaky toys in her past, no fluffy toys in her present, and nothing that's not a challenge in her future. One of her best attributes is her canny ability to make her family smile with her unanticipated antics. Sasha, the Princess...is a joy!

Harley Sue loves long walks and playtime. Her favorite types of toys are the ones that have squeekies in them. She likes any types of food.

Kobe is a sweet 11 year old Schnauzer who enjoys spending time with his housemate, Maggie, a 10 year old Boston Terrier. Kobe and Maggie are owned by the Nazaro family. Kobe also enjoys being groomed.

Although new to our family, Kobe is loved by everyone and we are very happy to have him as one of our patients.

Moishe Johnson is our June POM. She is a 10 month old shepard mix who loves playing. She has a lot of energy and she likes to dig. She likes to eat Pedigree and some of the owners food.

Northwood Oaks Veterinary Hospital has a new Pet of the Month! Sadie Richards is an active pup who loves to run laps at top speed at the dog park. Among her hobbies are chasing squirrels, wrestling with her little brother, Wilbur, and rolling in the mud. She loves to snack on cheese, hot dogs, and carrots. Sadie prefers to play with other dogs and her family, but enjoys chewing on the occasional squeaky toy. Congrats to Sadie and her family!

My name is Willow. I am a loving golden retriever. My favorite pastime is barking. I love playing with stuffed animals. My mom gives me cheese because it is my favorite treat. I love visiting my friends at Northwood Oaks Veterinary Hospital.

Ginger is a lovely 12 year old Cockapoo, owned by the Blalock family. Her special joy is to cuddle with her owner Shay. Ginger's favorite toy is a squeezy ball, and she loves to snack on dried chicken. This very special pet is our March 2011 Pet of the Month.

Hi, I'm Tootsie and I'm the happiest dog in the world! I'm almost 11 months old, and I'm an adorable puppy in every sense of the word! I drive mommy crazy because I'm full of energy, very curious, and I get into everything. I love to explore my back yard, and one time when mommy was taking a nap, I mulched our living room! I get to go to work each day with mom. All I know is that my job is to greet people, kiss them, make them laugh and smile, and sit on their lap to comfort them when they are sad or unhappy. I love my job! Mom dresses me up in funny costumes at the holidays and sweaters when it's cold. I'm very fashionable. I like to do tricks, play with toys, run in the yard, and eat everything I can get my paws on.

Dolce the Chihuahua joined the Billingsley family at just eight weeks of age, weighing less than one pound. Seven years later, she is still a puppy at heart. She enjoys a warm nap in the sun or on a pillow, as well as playing with her best friend, Stella the Pug.

Dolce is truly a social butterfly, greeting everyone she meets with a wag. We are happy to extend congratulations to Dolce Billingsley and her family for being the Northwood Oaks Pet of the Month.

Gauss is a spunky 5 year old Corgi. He joined the Livengood family in 2005 as a quiet, calm puppy with a bit of a shy side. Nowadays Gauss is the life of the party! Playing at the beach with his family and herding other dogs at the park are among his favorite activities. He also enjoys playing with his sister, Molly, and barking in the shower. If you're wondering where Gauss got his unique name, you might ask his graduate student parents. In honor of their studies, Gauss was named for the famous mathematician, Carl Fredrick Gauss. By our measure, Gauss the Corgi is just as smart as mathematician, Carl Fredrick Gauss.

Our pets of the month are "Sugar"(right) and "Spice"(left) Deffense. Sugar volunteers in the Pet therapy program at Shands Hospital. She loves to take walks with her brother, Spice. Spice loves rolling in the grass and does not like being alone.

Our Pets of the Month for October are "Apple" and "Foxy" Crowley. They love playing with anything and everything. They like all types of food.

Our Pet of the Month for September is "Winnie" LaRue! She is a 10yr-old Lhasa Apso who enjoys sleeping and playing with her stuffed goose. Her favorite food is Science Diet.

Our Pet of the Month for August is... "Atlas" Ballard! He is a 4yr-old Lab/Hound mix who enjoys chasing his brother! His favorite toy is a bone and his favorite food is anything he can get his paws on!

Belle, at four years of age, was surrendered to animal services by her terminally ill former owner. She was in pretty sad shape with hair loss and very poor skin condition along with other medical issues. Fortunately she was taken over by Airedale rescue who asked me to foster her while she underwent medical treatment.

Arriving at my home, she was greeted by Maggie, my boxer, as if she were her long lost sister. They instantly became friends. What was to be a short stop turned into a forever home.

Belle shares her home with Tulip a tuxedo cat and Emerald a yellow name Amazon. Her beloved Maggie crossed over the rainbow bridge four years ago.

Belle loves going for walks and riding in cars. Say either word and she does back flips in excitement.

She is a water baby and loves splashing in the creek in the Georgia Mountains and any other body of water she can find.

She is a friendly girl and has never met a stranger. She firmly believes anyone coming to the house is there strictly to visit with her.

She is starting to slow down some but still retains a lot of puppy attitude. She certainly brought a lot of joy to our home and we hope she stays around for a long, long time.

My name is Poot. I was born in Live Oak, Fl on Feb 23, 1999. My real name is Lady Daniella (a combination of my parents' names) but I quickly acquired my nickname because my Mommy and daddy recognized my musical talents.

I have two kitties that live with me; Troubles and Kibby. They really like to cuddle with me but I don't always like to cuddle with them.

One of my favorite things to do is chase squirrels. I caught one once but didn't know what to do with it once I got it. My Mommy said I had to let him go so I did. He stayed around for a couple of weeks, taunting me at the back door.

I also like cookies! I don't have a favorite kind of cookie.. any will do; just as long as I get them often. I never seem to gain weight though, it's only three paws on the scale, right? My Mommy says not to worry about it, I'm just big-boned.

I love Dr Kruse, Natalie, Rebecca and all the technicians at Northwood Oaks. They take very good care of me (and give me lots of cookies).

Ramona is a six year old grey domestic short haired cat. She came to live in Florida with her owner in July 2009, and has become a much loved member of the family. She is originally from North Carolina. She is a very sweet and cuddly cat who loves to sit with you while you read or watch TV. Ramona spends much of her time napping in various spots throughout the house or watching the squirrels from the window. Ramona's favorite activities include dinner time, playing with string, and sitting on books, papers, and exam booklets while her owner studies or grades papers.

Suzie's owner moved to Gainesville in 2002 to be closer to his son after his wife passed away. He moved into a small condo and realized he was ready for a furry companion. In October of 2002, he visited All Pets Rescue in Newberry and saw Suzie, a 4 year old Jack Russell. He adopted her at once! Suzie is the most lovable dog he has ever had. In the evening after supper, her big treat is yogurt on small pieces of milk bone. Suzie and her new owner are thoroughly enjoying each others company!

Frieda is a very sweet 6 year old Dachshund who loves to sleep, play, and eat! She loves her mom very much and never leaves her side. She may seem small but is very quick when she sees a squirrel. Her favorite treat is the t/d treats. Frieda enjoys coming to Northwood Oaks to get pampered during her monthly bath, and loves her Northwood Oaks Family!

Carlee is a 10 year old Poodle, although you'd never know it by her high energy level and the way we have Lea groom her at Northwood Oaks. Most people mistake her for a Bichon Frise. She has a very sweet personality, very laid back, not a typical Poodle.

She loves to play with her little pink soccer ball, enjoys roaming free in her private backyard and never tries to run away! She is very smart, just too smart, and comprehends so many words and phrases that, at times, we have to talk in code or actually spell words out loud when we don't want her to understand what we're saying.

She is loved very much by her family, Mike, Sonja, Meghan and Michael Gallagher.

Casper is a 3-1/2 year old Domestic Short Hair and a loving member of his adopted family, the Brevoorts. His days consist of finding the best nap spot in the sun and watching the world from atop his perch in his "tree". He loves to chase his own tail, play hide and seek, follow his family around the house like a shadow, and take long naps throughout the day.

Casper loves everyone at his home away from home, Northwood Oaks, and is very happy to be Pet of the Month!

Magnolia Mae Nazaro (aka Maggie) is the beloved 9 year old Boston Terrier of The Nazaro Family. She was born in Tampa, Florida, and recently moved with her family to Gainesville to be closer to relatives. Maggie is loving Gainesville!

Currently, she loves playing outside with her best friend and uncle, a miniature Schnauzer named Kobe, and chasing around her newborn human cousin, Ella. Thanks to Dr. Kruse's care at Northwood Oaks, Maggie is as happy as can be and enjoying life.

Nico is 9 years old, and is a very active and busy English Bulldog. Her average day consists of waking up and watching the Florida sunrise from her back porch, eating a balanced breakfast and then heading back to bed for her mid-morning nap. Her exercise regime includes extremely short walks and the fine sport of tag-team wrestling at 6pm.

She loves sleeping on her new "shrimpy" dog bed, playing with her yellow banana-like "long-dog", singing the blues, and making friends wherever she goes. She is a loving member of the Miller family and a regular at Northwood Oaks Vet, her own home away from home.

Hello Gainesville! My name is Amelia Peabody and I am the most lovable black lab you will ever meet. I'm 4.5 yrs old and I love life. I have a wonderful family who takes fabulous care of me.

My parents love to take me on long walks and bring me to the park where I partake in my favorite pastimes-swimming and fetching. I live to fetch! I also have a wonderful human sister who loves to share all her food with me.

I’ve gained a little weight recently but I just can’t resist all the goodies she throws my way. I’m also a big fan of snuggling and sleeping. What can I say – it’s a great life! I’m so excited to be Pet of the Month at Northwood Oaks and love my extended vet family.

Hi, my name is Jersey. I am a Rat Terrier adopted by Bobby and Julia and I am so excited to be Pet of the Month! I was found on the side of the road by a professor at the University of Florida. When they found me I was covered in fleas and had a broken leg!! But thanks to everyone at Northwood Oaks, I'm as good as new!

Now I spend my days playing with my sister Shiloh, a poodle. We love to play chase and chew on all the squeaker toys from our toy box. My favorite game is to chew on all of Bobby's socks! I love to eat everything expect for cantaloupe. Yuck!

On the weekend I like to spend time with Aunt Diane and Uncle Robert (our neighbors), Aunt Linda (and her Dachshunds, Fritz and Chloe), and Aunt Linda and Uncle Jeff (and their Golden Retriever, Brandy). Thank you to Northwood Oaks for picking me as Pet of the Month!

Sadie is a 6 year old Doberman owned by the Hawkin's family. She loves to sit on Mommy's lap after she gets home from work each day. Say Hello to my 90 pound lap dog! She loves to chase squirrels and lizards in the backyard and play tug of war with Daddy's socks. Her favorite treats are rice pudding and bones!

This is Mason, a 16 month old Black Mouth Cur, a Florida hunting dog owned by Lindsey Hertel. Mason likes to "hunt" squirrels and mice, and chase chickens and horses. She gets along best with small dogs and loves eating frozen peanut butter out of her Kong.

She loves to go for car rides, but her favorite activity is running alongside her "Mommy" when she goes mountain biking and jogging. Mason is very intelligent and can learn almost any trick in a matter of minutes. Lindsey's next goal is to train Mason to become a search and rescue dog - we wish them well!

"Scarlett" is an 8 year old Red Irish Setter. Scarlett's mommy Kathy Thompson met her 4 years ago in Jacksonville, FL and it was love at first sight. Scarlett was very shy and withdrawn but with lots of love and nurturing from her new owner the real Scarlett has now emerged.

Scarlett loves to go for walks and meet with her doggie friends (and their people), but not if it's raining, and especially not if it's thundering or lightning. Scarlett thinks storms are awful, but she loves the cookie treats she gets when a storm does come around. Her favorite toys are her "quaily bird", because it looks just like the real quail she caught in flight a couple of years ago. Also the teddy bear that she took off her mommy's bed a when the family moved into their new digs.

Her favorite activity is to go for rides in the car with her mommy. She loves to sit in the back seat and look out the window and watch all neat things go by. "Scarlett" and her mommy are "forever" and they can't wait to share many more years full of wonderful memories.

"Hayden" is a 5 month old blue merle Australian Shepherd. He loves to play with his sister Roxy at the dog park. Hayden also enjoys spending time with his family, Howie, Alice Ann, Brooke, and Blythe Ferguson.

He is friends with everyone he meets, but his best friend is his canine neighbor, Riley. "Clifford the Big Red Dog" is his favorite book and his favorite song is "5 o'clock Some where." And of course he absolutely loves the Florida Gators!
